Frances Edmond has over thirty years experience in film, theatre and
television as writer, actress, teacher, reviewer and editor. After completing a
Bachelors degree in English at Auckland
University, Frances
trained as an actress at Toi Whakaari/New Zealand Drama School. Following a
successful acting career, Frances
moved to writing. She has had a number of short films made, including The
Beach, which was selected for competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 1996. Frances’ most
recent short film, titled Eeling, won the Atlantis award for best foreign short
screenplay at the Moondance International Film Festival, 2008. Eeling, produced
by Albedo Films, was funded through the NZ Film Commission short film fund by
Nomadz Unlimited and had its premiere in March 2011.
